Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas are reportedly facing another rough patch in their marriage, with sources close to the couple telling RadarOnline that the Hollywood duo are on the verge of divorce.
According to insiders 56-year-old Zeta-Jones has been deeply focused on her career. And new projects while 81-year-old Douglas spends much of his time alone at their shared home. One source said Douglas has been feeling vulnerable as his wife’s professional life continues to thrive, while his own pace has slowed.
“Catherine enjoys her powerful position in Hollywood and the financial independence that comes with it. The elephant in the room of course Michael,” the insider shared.
“I admire Catherine so much and in so many ways – as a mother, as an actress, and now as a businesswoman,” he boasted, referring to Casa Zeta-Jones, her home decor and clothing line on QVC.
But the insider noted Douglas “isn’t really involved in what she’s doing and it’s difficult for him because he’s effectively sitting at home living the life of an old man.”
“He wouldn’t expect her to drop everything and sit by his side but it pains him that she’s coming home excited and giddy over her career while he’s relegated to the easy chair.”
Sources also noted that Douglas holds no resentment toward his wife and wishes her happiness, but he misses the closeness they once shared. The couple’s relationship has reportedly grown more strained since their children became adults and moved out.

Douglas and Zeta-Jones have been married since 2000. This isn’t the first time their relationship has been shadowed by divorce rumors — similar reports surfaced back in 2013.
