Selena Gomez’s wedding last month to music producer Benny Blanco was nothing short of a star-studded fairy tale — yet behind the glamour lay moments of deep emotion.

Their romance blossomed publicly in December 2023, and Blanco later proposed with a Maris diamond ring. The couple tied the knot on September 27 in an intimate ceremony at Santa Barbara’s Serest Nursery. Gomez wore a custom Ralph Lauren lace gown, while Blanco matched her elegance in a tuxedo by the same designer. Paired with a diamond watch reportedly worth a million dollars.
The guest list glittered with A-list names, including Taylor Swift, Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Paul Rudd. During the celebration, Swift delivered a heartfelt — and humorous — speech, even playfully roasting Gomez’s early 2000s fashion moments.
But soon after the fairy-tale wedding Gomez revealed that she overcome with tears and fear. Speaking at Fortune’s Most Powerful Women conference in Washington, D.C., she shared, “When something great happens, I expect something bad to follow.” She admitted that her mind often drifts toward worst-case scenarios, even during moments of joy. “Instead of saying, ‘Wow, we’ve done something amazing,’ I start thinking, ‘This could all disappear tomorrow — how do I make sure it doesn’t?’”
“This is how I work personally, but something great happens in my life, I expect something bad to happen,” she revealed per the Daily Mail. “So instead of being present and saying, ‘Okay, wow, we’ve done a great thing,’ which I do, I’m always thinking, ‘Okay, but this could all go away tomorrow, so how can I make sure that doesn’t happen?’”
Reflecting on her emotions, she added, “I got married and then I was sobbing because I thought, I’m going to die the next day. I think that’s just a little life thing.”
Recently, Gomez also hinted at her wish to start a family despite medical challenges that prevent her from carrying children herself. Expressing openness to exploring other paths to motherhood.
