American pop star Katy Perry left fans stunned after an unexpected act during her 41st birthday celebration. The singer tossed her birthday cake — baked by a fan’s mother — onto the floor, shocking many who witnessed the moment. The incident was first reported by Page Six.

Perry celebrated her 41st birthday following a recent performance on her Lifetimes tour. Still dressed in her stage costume, she was filmed backstage surrounded by crew members as she blew out candles on a large cake. Moments later, she tried to toss the cake toward a man nearby, but missed, sending it crashing to the ground.
The singer laughed as several of her dancers approached the ruined dessert, crouched down, and picked up pieces to taste.
Later, social media users revealed that the cake had been specially prepared by the mother of one of Perry’s fans.
“My mom baked that cake. She was so excited to make it for Katy Perry and spent so much time on it. I’m honestly confused and upset that she did this,” one user wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
The video quickly sparked backlash online.
“Katy can’t do anything without being gross,” one person commented.
“What’s going on in people’s minds when they just throw away a cake everyone could’ve enjoyed?” another asked.
“The craziest part is that someone else has to clean it up,” added a third.
Another netizen noted, “Never understand why people throw or push people’s faces into them, such a waste 😞,” while a fourth observed, “lowk[ey] feel bad for her crew cause they looked excited for some cake.”
The incident has left many questioning Perry’s behavior, with fans calling the act disrespectful and tone-deaf.
